APPLIED EXAMPLE 1 — UNCERTAINTY TOLERANCE IN PRACTICE

The Scenario:
A Chief Operating Officer at a global manufacturing company received conflicting signals about a major supplier relationship. Financial data suggested terminating the contract. His most trusted regional director argued strongly for renewal. Two board members wanted an immediate decision.

The conventional response:
Under pressure to resolve the un
certainty quickly — and with his amygdala driving the threat response that neural decoherence generates — the COO woul
d have defaulted to the most recent data, the loudest voice, or the most familiar pattern. A fast decision that reduced the discomfort of uncertainty.

The Leadership Architect response:
